From David's Perspective

Back in early 2023, David decided that he wanted to find a real connection. So he downloaded some dating apps and freshened up his profile with the intent to find someone like-minded, intelligent, and kind. As he "browsed" (for lack of a better word), he stumbled across a picture of a beautiful woman in front of some sunflowers. He read her profile (it mentioned Avatar: The Last Airbender, her kitties, and some other small details) and he figured she would be worth chatting to at the very least.

Not too long after, he saw that she matched with him! So, he opened the conversation with a GIF from Avatar: The Last Airbender of supporting character Sokka saying "Water Tribe" (S2, E6, "The Blind Bandit") as he made a motion out the door. He figured it would be cute. Well, he must have made an impression because this new connection, Liz, was happy to chat. They got along fairly well, and decided to go on a first date to Zao for lunch. David's grandmother saw him after the date and distinctly remembers that he looked like a "bum" (he was wearing a nice T-shirt and shorts!).

Throughout their time getting to know each other, David noticed he was making a real connection with Liz. It was so easy to talk with her, so easy to be with her, so easy to care for her and be interested in her life. Everything was just easy. He felt so lucky to have found such a good connection. They have had many evenings just spending time together at home, but also have had so many adventures. The adventures Liz has taken David on have shaped the way David views the world, with her by his side. From ice castles to museum visits to date nights with a tasty dinner and a movie, he has been happy and content to do so with her ever since. She's made him become more adventurous, brave, and creative. Liz means so much to David. He is constantly amazed at how kind, intelligent, and like-minded she is. She's truly his equal, his confidant, his love, and his partner. David looks forward to all of the adventures yet to come with her by his side as equal partners.

From Liz's Perspective

Liz was on the LDS dating app Mutual. She had been frustrated with dating experiences in the past, so she updated some of her filters (and even included folks 4 years her junior), and tried being more honest about what she wanted and was looking for. She noticed that David was cute, was liberal-leaning, and that he liked cats. That was good enough for her to swipe and start a conversation. David's first message was a GIF of Sokka from "Avatar the Last Airbender", saying "Watertribe." Liz thought he had game, and she was game to chat.

They met up for lunch, and Liz was intrigued. David was smart, engaging, and a techboy (but not a techboi), and they shared similar opinions about Elon Musk. That was enough to get a second date -- a brunch at Mimi's Cafe -- and from their conversations, Liz felt that David was a person with whom she could be herself.

They kept on seeing each other, and Liz loved talking with David. She felt they had so much in common, and that David was somehow magically on the same page and went at the same speed as she did. They kept on seeing each other, and seeing each other. And Liz was won over by David's thoughtfulness, kindness, and his gentle heart, and loves him most for... well, all of him. She feels so seen and known and loved by David, and will work the rest of her life to make sure he feels seen, known, and loved back.
